Today

Fun waves as old swell eases, fresh SSW swell starts to move in. Early AM window best.

Dawn to 10:00AM: The most consistent surf will be down a bit from Saturday as old SSW swell mixes with the long period front end of our next SSW pulse. Surf for better breaks in the waist-chest high range. Occasional head high for standouts. Light W winds early AM, up a few knots later morning for a little onshore crumble.

Afternoon Outlook: Surf edges up. Moderate W onshores for a lumpier afternoon.

Not all south swells are created equal. From Bombing Teahupo'o to Massive Wedge, watch the science behind the South Pacific's most remarkable run in decades: https://bit.ly/4xS68hZ

San Onofre State Beach Surf Guide

San Onofre State Beach is the Waikiki of the California Coastline -- a beginner's paradise of gentle breaking waves, long sandy beaches and an absence of ego.

On any given summer weekend, you can find a whole tribe of surfers playing volleyball, talking story and swilling beer under grassy huts or sitting hunched over their longboards, waiting for the next lazy peak to float their way.
