Today

Fun afternoon/evening of waves. Onshore bump is minor, go surf.

Afternoon Outlook: SSW swell tops out for widespread chest-head high surf. Better breaks head-high to a bit overhead as standouts go a couple to a few feet overhead at times. There's enough NW energy in the mix so the open beachbreaks are broken up enough to offer some nice corners and an option to spread out. Some manageable onshore texture this afternoon and wind should lighten back up this evening.

San Onofre State Beach Surf Guide

San Onofre State Beach is the Waikiki of the California Coastline -- a beginner's paradise of gentle breaking waves, long sandy beaches and an absence of ego.

Today, it is one of the last few beaches that epitomizes the California surfing lifestyle. On any given summer weekend, you can find a whole tribe of surfers playing volleyball, talking story and swilling beer under grassy huts or sitting hunched over their longboards, waiting for the next lazy peak to float their way.
