Lully on the front end of the long-period swell Monday morning, waist-shoulder high, but powerful and fast lines with strong current developing at wide open beachbreaks. Light AM winds.
Afternoon Outlook: Breaks that can focus long period energy see chest-head surf build, with overhead sets at standouts, largest late. Moderate WNW winds peak mid afternoon, then ease.

A thick kelp bed several hundred yards outside the break smoothes the bump out of northwesterly wind, making the Cliffs an ideal place to surf when nearby beaches are blown out. To access most of these reefbreaks, rocky cliffs -- and, often, exposed reef -- must be navigated. Long paddles mired by seagrass and kelp are the norm.
