His expertise spans the broader Pacific basin, including long-range forecasting, seasonal outlooks, and major swell events affecting the West Coast. With degrees in Environmental Studies and Applied Meteorology, he rigor with a deep understanding of how surfers experience changing conditions in the water.
Over the years, Schaler has helped forecast many of California’s most memorable swells, including Hurricane Marie and several historic West Coast events. He has also contributed to World Surf League forecasts and exploration projects throughout the Pacific. His ability to connect large-scale weather patterns with day-to-day surf conditions has made him one of Surfline’s most trusted voices.
