Today

Most of the South Bay stays slow as SSW swell passes by. Small wave gear on the AM tide push best.

Dawn to 10am: Selective SSW swell holds, keeping knee-waist high surf in the water on average, as better spots Manhattan north go chest high. The mid-AM tide push looks like the sweet spot, after the low tide fills in and before afternoon onshores. Minor NW windswell to work with, so structured spots look like your option for a decent corner.

Afternoon Outlook: Breezy onshore W wind and unfavorable conditions.

Not all south swells are created equal. From Bombing Teahupo'o to Massive Wedge, watch the science behind the South Pacific's most remarkable run in decades: https://bit.ly/4xS68hZ

Lunada Bay Surf Guide

L.A.'s localized, premier big-wave spot, Lunada Bay takes NW and W winter swells up to 20-feet and pitches a beautiful, walled right that takes you through a boiling, boulder-riddled lineup. With more N in the swell, a few daredevils will raise the stakes by taking off at a spot called Truck Drivers, a few hundred yards behind the main peak. Another lovely facet is the rip -- on large swells it pulls you toward the pocket and the rocks. The place really doesn't wake up until it's over six-feet. Read more
