North New Jersey Forecast

Today

Short-period E swell offers peaky but somewhat weak surf with onshore winds. Not bad for July

Dawn to Midday: Surf is up a couple notches as low pressure sets up offshore of the region. Fun-size waves into the waist-chest high range, maybe a bit bigger for some. Moderate side onshore NE winds and choppy drifty conditions. Nothing ideal but for the time of year, I would try to get some waves. Warm water.

Afternoon Outlook: Continued onshore winds and less than ideal conditions, but some decently fun sized chunky peaks continue to show.

Loch Arbour Surf Guide

The Long Jetty at Loch Arbor is located right in front of the high-rise apartments. It can hold the biggest swells that hit New Jersey. Controlled by a crew of locals, the middle peak does not play well with interlopers, but never fear, there are other peaks without the hassle.

The L-shaped jetty points southward and breaks best on a northeast swell. It gets a really steep right off the takeoff and can be somewhat clean when everywhere else is choppy. But beware of the rocks.
