Breaks that handle gusty W wind only, options to get in if you don't mind the wind
Dawn-to-Midday: hold out and wait for the drop late morning and aim to surf breaks that handle gusty W wind for the cleanest wave faces. 30mph wind at high, the dropping tide will take the edge of the wind and swell.
Afternoon Outlook: the drop to low-tide at lunchtime the best time to get in, W wind gusting 20mph+ and more. There'll be too much water moving once the tide turns. A late session at high-tide sheltered breaks an option for an after work session.

Jackson's Bay Surf Guide
Not known for a surfing beach as it’s sheltered from all but the biggest storms in the Bristol Channel or the strongest E wind-swell. There can be short, punchy beach-break waves for beginners here when all other beaches are closed-out and out of control or if there’s a very strong E wind blowing E wind-chop into the bay. A good beach for SUPs and sea-swimming for most of the year. Read more
