Open beaches best grovel options, junky and low quality

A tricky morning with some chances on the open beaches but limited opportunity throughout the day with strength of NW-NNW wind reducing quality on the open beaches and not quite enough swell getting into protected zones. Open beaches will grow to a junky head high towards the early arvo high tide as new swell fills in. Protected points and sheltered nooks likely to remain too small to surf.

Flinders Beach Surf Guide

Flinders offers multiple breaks, with Big Left and Cyril’s being the standouts. Big Left is a heavy, outside left-hand reef that picks up plenty of swell—and wind. On larger groundswells it becomes a powerful wave capable of long hold-downs, and it’s highly wind-affected unless offshore.

Cyril’s is more protected, more consistent, and generally punchier, offering high-performance sections suited to advanced surfers.
