Today

Wednesday seeing a slow fade in ENE swell - a few fun waves about. NW offshores for the AM.

Clean offshore winds continue to favour exposed beaches where fading ENE swell produces waist-high waves. Protected points become slow and inconsistent, making beachies the better option despite the easing trend. Size on these exposures likely to offer chest high sets for the dawnie, with these better sized sets becoming less and less frequent through the morning. A small but enjoyable day for those keeping expectations realistic.

Catherine Hill Bay Surf Guide

Catherine Hill Bay is one of the most consistent beachbreaks south of Newcastle. Due to its halfmoon shape, it is capable of handling swell from both the northeast and southeast. It can handle swells up to 6- 8-foot. It is best with southwest to northwest winds. It is quite a versatile setup, consistent and quite powerful at times for a beachbreak. A bit of a swell magnet, it often has some sort of a sandbar options. The northern end generally has the better banks. Read more
