The Wave Bristol
Book nowA rub-your-eyes-this-can’t-be-real-looking, neon-blue surf oasis located in the stone-lined, emerald sheep pastures of Bristol’s English countryside, The Wave is another one of the handful of Wavegarden wave pools in Europe today. The Wave, however, prides itself on being the first surf park to run entirely on renewable energy generated on site, thanks to a nearby field of solar panels.
Using the Wavegarden Cove technology, The Wave offers eight settings for: Beginner, Beginner Bodyboarding, Waikiki, intermediate, Advanced, Advanced Plus, Expert Turns, Expert Barrels. A versatile mixture of fun, simultaneously breaking 3-6 foot, 30-100-yard-long rights and lefts, the waves at The Wave become faster, bowlier and more hollow as the settings for skill level increase. On the Expert Barrels setting, for example, slabby tubes form and for Advanced and Expert Turns sessions you can get pointbreak style wave faces best for turning.
You can bring your own gear to The Wave if you’d like, but one serious perk here is that surfboards, wetsuits and other gear are actually included in the price of your session! With 25 safari tents for bookings, you can stay on-site at The Wave, and the café/bar (The Clubhouse) sells all meals and drinks, and has a great surf shop there too. The Wave also offers adaptive surfing sessions, women-only sessions, and bodyboarding events.
Pricing: Surf sessions: £13-£65
