O2 SURFTOWN Munich
Book nowNestled in Germany’s fabled, Bavarian capital of Munich, the über-fun peaks of SURFTOWN MUC might resemble a certain artificial wave over in the Lone Star State, but that’s only because the pneumatic wave tech a lá Endless Surf is nearly identical to Waco’s Perfectswell wave-maker. Meaning, barrel-turn-air combos are the highlight if your skill-level is up to snuff.
The Surf: Basically, unless you’re at a learning/beginner level, the two main modes are: The Pointbreak and A-frame settings. The Pointbreak waves run as righthanders or lefthanders allowing you 18-second rides with a variety of bowly sections that suit your level and style. The A-frame mode breaks as a split peak in the middle of the pool and offers both rights and lefts simultaneously. The expert session in A-Frame mode will give you a combo of turns and tubes, all about waist-almost head high. A group of up to 13 surfers can be in a session at one time, but with the Endless Surf tech—there are tons of waves coming through in 60-minutes.
You can bring your own gear if you’d like, but Surftown definitely has everything you need to rent, from top quality wetsuits to surfboards and fins/leashes, etc. There’s also an on-site surf academy, surf lessons, and coaching available. And a solid restaurant.
Price: A 60-minute session includes free equipment rentals, safety briefings, day admission, and access to the on-site restaurant and shop. Intermediate (or better) sessions start around $90 USD. You can buy bulk sessions, too, (10, 25 or 50) to lower the per sesh price. A yearly membership ($200USD) gets you benefits and discounts.
*Apparently a top-secret “Pro Level” setting is coming soon ($145USD).
