Dania Pier:
If Broward County ever got swell, Dania Pier would be a big-name break. A coral reef runs outside the pier, and good winter and hurricane swells send powerful lefts reeling back toward the pilings, while a few rights break against the grain. There also is a good inside sandbar on the north side that works on windswells.
The entrance to Dania Pier is on the east side of A1A, and metered parking is available. Unfortunately, surfing is not allowed within 100 feet of the pier — or at all on the south side — and fishermen sometimes chuck sinkers at violators. Surf first thing in the morning or during business and school hours to minimize crowds.
