Today

Chest+ high windswell with a window of lighter winds midday into early PM. Not great but OK.

Midday: We still have chest+ high range surf at lunch. Light ENE winds offering imrpoving but still bumpy conditions. It has come together a bit since the AM, so it is looking more worthwhile than earlier. Could be worth a go as the tide continues to fill in through mid afternoon.

Afternoon Outlook: Still plenty of waves lingering into the afternoon but eventually we'll see SE winds pick up later in the day, adding some chop to the ocean surface. Not too bad, and could still be worth doing.

Avalon Pier Surf Guide

There was a time that the north side was one of the best and most consistent waves in "town." Outside of periodic glimmers on both sides of the pier, that hasn't been the case in more than a decade. There is always hope that the next storm moves the replenished beach around and deposits sand in the right places, so it is always worth a check. If you do surf, watch out for the pilings off the end of the pier left by Hurricane Dorian back in 2019. Read more
