SPECIAL CHARACTERISTICS
Tow surfing is almost more like snowboarding: you're into
the wave before it's even breaking, so you don't have to take off
that late -- it's all about choosing your line and pushing it as
far as you want to go. Fins are an important part of the shape,
as is the rail, 'cause you're going so fast you end up using the
whole rail and relying on the fins to hold more than a traditional
board. The footstrap positioning is all about feel: boards keep
getting smaller so the stance keeps getting wider 'cause you want
to keep the nose and tail down -- you gotta keep the stance wide
enough to keep the nose down without popping your back knee out.
IDEAL CONDITIONS
Giant, unpaddleable Todos and
crazy Irish bombies.
