Today

Small to playful waves today with old & new SSW swell running for summer exposures. Light crumble.

Afternoon Outlook: Light texture early this afternoon with a few waves to track down. Most points are knee-waist high with some occasional larger sets. Standouts west of Dume still have some chest-high waves in the mix. A little soft/sluggish on the early high tide but there are a few open corners. A little crumble due to pick up late AM into midday.

Some more lump shows by mid-PM as SSW wind shifts to WSW, but looks pretty manageable through the end of the day, especially for points.

Topanga Beach Surf Guide

A very visible long, right point at the base of Topanga Canyon. Topanga can be a real workable wave with plenty of challenging sections, but it never matches the shape of its cousin, Malibu. Topanga will take any swell, but it's best on a big west. During the huge El Nino winter of 1982-'83, local Donnie Wilson picked off a ride from Topanga that connected all the way past Chart House -- a distance of more than 300 yards.
