Hatteras Island Forecast

Today

Sideshore S windswell early. N/NE winds build in for the PM. Frisco cleans up again.

Dawn-Midday: It looks like we'll get a little more S windswell for waist high surf in the southern part of the Island. SW winds offer OK conditions, but there is a little side texture for the breaks that pick up the most size down in Avon-Buxtonthrough the morning.

Afternoon Outlook: Gentle N/NE winds spread in for textured conditions in the afternoon. Some options for rideable surf, but overall not much quality at the E facers. Frisco looks like a better option once winds go northerly.

WATCH: Tropical Update, El Nino Arrives, and Wknd Forecast

***The entire beachfront in front of Buxton Village is temporarily closed to public entry due to the presence of threatened oceanfront structures.***

NW and even NNW winds are doable here, which is a good thing as they often coincide with those northeast swells.... Read more
