What's New

Getting to the beach only to find that conditions don’t match the forecast is a universal frustration among surfers. But, like any weather-related phenomenon, waves are impossible to predict with 100% confidence—even if you’re an expert, veteran surf forecaster or cutting-edge surf forecast model like LOTUS. That’s why we’re introducing the option to provide forecast accuracy feedback directly to our forecast and data science teams. Your input will help us work on LOTUS and improve accuracy moving forward.

How it works

You’ll see the forecast feedback prompt pop up on spot pages and after Sessions.

Providing your feedback should only take a few moments, and you’ll be given the option to snooze the feedback prompt if you don’t feel like seeing it again for a while. The feedback form will ask you when surfed and how conditions looked. It shouldn’t take more than a minute or two, and then you’ll be on your way.

What we’ll do with your feedback

Your feedback will help us improve the model for both specific spots and overall systemic issues that impact surf height, surf ratings, wave energy, and wave consistency. The more data we get, the more accurate LOTUS and our forecasts will become.
