1-2' ESE swell with onshore winds. Rideable on a big board and OK for beginners but far from ideal.
Dawn-Midday: Southerly winds and small ESE swell this morning offering crumbly waves in the knee-thigh range at the better spots. Weak, broken lines coming through that look like just enough to push a bigger board or have a surf lesson. Less tide later this morning won't do many favors, so I'd probably look at going early if you want to try to find something.
Afternoon Outlook: The afternoon incoming tide should offer OK waves for what it is, but onshore winds set up bumpy conditions.

Hilton Head Island Surf Guide
The surf potential here is not terribly good, due to a wide continental shelf and occasional sandbars from outflow from the Broad River, so you'll find typical Carolina beachbreak with no real standout areas. Hilton Head picks up the best swells from the S and E, and works best on an incoming tide. Hurricane swells will be best. Read more
