Pease Bay

DESCRIPTION
An often-busy beachbreak at the southern end of the east coast, its popularity is enhanced by its close proximity to Edinburgh. Due to its slightly sheltered position, it takes a good swell pushing down the North Sea to start working. When it does, the rock reef at the southern end really draws the crowds. A good alternative is the decent, often hollow left breaking off the northern end of the bay, while peaks breaking along the length of the beach - dependent on the banks - means this is a flexible spot for a range of abilities (all of which will be present).

THINGS TO DO
About 10 miles south St Abbs is famed for its diving. Otherwise your best bet is to head to cultural capital Edinburgh, around an hour's drive westward. There you'll find everything from history and castles to cinemas and skateparks. Livingstone, just west of Edinburgh, is home to a classic concrete skate park and one of Britain's best-loved spots.
SURF SHOPS
St Vedas Surf Shop in Coldingham Bay to the south sells and hires the basics while Puro Nectar in Dunbar, about 12 miles north has a wider range.
