When the ASP and Roxy first teamed up to put together an event to crown an undisputed world champ in 2006, Cori Schumacher didn't even show up.
Fast-forward a couple years to 2008 and -- perhaps inspired by a revitalized women's longboard circuit -- Cori's back on the scene and collecting hardware again. First it was a victory at the 2008 Linda Benson Roxy Jam in Cardiff, then top honors at the Longboard Pipeline Pro in '09, not to mention the North American title both years. |

Now 33, Cori's got a third world title with her name on it after winning the Roxy ASP WWLC in Biarritz. Not only did Cori dominate the final she surfed against fellow Californian Kaitlin Maguire, she also secured the highest heat total of the event to eliminate equally fired up '08 World Champion Joy Monahan 17.25 to 16.00 in the semis. Joy beat '07 and '09 World Champion Jennifer Smith in the quarters. "It feels so good right now," freshly crowned Cori said. "It was like six minutes to the end when the feelings just washed over me and I was tingling. It's such an amazing feeling to win."
