Cali Bamboo, Surfrider Foundation Launch National "Green Home Challenge"

Posted: (05/11)
SAN DIEGO - May 11, 2010 - Cali Bamboo, a premier manufacturer of green building materials made entirely from bamboo, and the Surfrider Foundation today launched the National "2010 Green Home Challenge."

The person with the winning sustainable building project, photo and write up on the company's website along with a guest will attend the Surfrider Foundation Celebrity Expression Session at the Malibu Surfing Association's Classic in September.

"This contest is a great opportunity for folks across the U.S. to showcase their creative, green building efforts regardless of cost, material choice or who their supplier was," says Jeff Goldberg, CEO and President of Cali Bamboo. "In addition, the winner will have the opportunity to surf with a celebrity on one of our eco-friendly surfboards. We're really excited and strongly encourage individuals to submit their projects!"

Cali Bamboo and Surfrider will accept entries until June 30 and then narrow down the applicants based on creativity and projects that made the biggest environmental impact. The list of finalists will be posted on Cali Bamboo's website on July 5 for the public to vote and the winner will be announced on August 5. The grand prize winner and guest will receive roundtrip airfare to Los Angeles on Friday, September 10, and enjoy an all-expense paid weekend, including a 30-minute surf session with a celebrity following the Celebrity Expression Session event, an eco-friendly surfboard for use during the surf session, access to the VIP party on Friday evening, transportation and accommodations, departing on Sunday, September 12.

"We're really excited to be partnering with Cali Bamboo for the 2010 Green Home Challenge, and having them as part of our Celebrity Expression Session," said Matt McClain, Surfrider Foundation's Director of Marketing and Communications. "We're looking forward to seeing all the projects, and want to encourage everyone to be as creative and sustainable as possible."
