YOGA FOR SURFERS IN SANTA MONICA

Alexandra "Alex" Westmore is a Yoga Alliance certified instructor teaching regular weekly classes at Yoga Co on Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica. Sunday at 5:30 - 7:00 PM, Tuesday and Thursday at 11:45 - 1:00 PM.

Around Malibu, Alex is also known as "Aflex" - a surf-stoked ball of energy who can sometimes be seen out to sea between First Point and the Pier, working on her poses and breathing while balanced on a standup paddleboard.

Alex brings a great deal of experience to her classes, and a sincere love of yoga and how it has improved her life. She became certified through Yoga Works with John Gaydos and Kia Miller, attended a Kundalini teacher training at Golden Bridge with Krishna Kaur, and spent 6 weeks at The Omega Institute teaching yoga, taking classes in meditation and various healing energy work, and attended a Jivamukti immersion with David Life and Sharon Gannon.

Sundays are "Yoga for Surfers," with a focus on loosening up the shoulders, neck and lower back, while strengthening the core, developing balancing skills, and mental focus. All levels are welcome. Surfer or not you will feel good.

Tuesday and Thursdays are "Yang Yoga." With great music to carry you through, Alex leads a vigorous sweaty detoxifying flow practice coupled with fortifying strengthening postures allows for the desired deep releases and meditative elements.

Suggested donation is $14.
