ONE SESSION WITH REEF MCINTOSH
(08/01/13) Is it a good day when you wake up in a strange place -- beautiful, but very scary? Is it a good feeling when you find yourself dodging liquid guillotines -- exciting, but very dangerous? Is it a good session when it ends with dozens of healthy tuberides -- and a blown eardrum and a few broken ribs? The answers are: yes, yes and yes. Because Reef McIntosh doesn't scare easily; Teahupo'o doesn't get this big and this clean every day; and getting injured at the most popular slab in the world is all part of being one of its most esteemed players. Flesh and bone heals. Memories don't.

LOCAL LEGENDZ | JAY NELSON
(08/01/13) Jay Nelson is basically unstoppable. He doesn't let chained fences or conventional design methods get in his way and he makes art that consistently surprises us. He says art is the first thing he was really good at, and working with his hands was always something he wanted to do. Nelson started shaping boards in high school and then transitioned to shaping camper vehicles, tree houses and other artistic but useful pieces of beauty. In this first episode of our newest series, Local Legendz, Jay shows sketches of designs, walks us through his neighborhood (the Sunset in San Francisco) and tells us a bit about the friends who inspire him along the way. For more of Jay's work, visit jaynelsonart.com and follow him on Instagram @jay.

HOLES IN THE MAP
(08/01/13) Sometimes unplanned trips are the way to go. Without building up our expectations, we are more willing to accept inconveniences like getting kicked out of a makeshift camping spot in the middle of the night as opportunities. Setting out on a last-minute trip, Jen Smith, Mele Saili and Jenna Balester only had one fixed goal: make it to Tofino, B.C. for the Queen of the Peak surf competition. In this episode of Sea Movies presented by Reef, filmmaker Hayley Gordon shows us the ladies' spontaneous strategy into the Pacific Northwest pays off with some fun waves and stunning scenery.

1 ROUND
(08/01/13) Luke Davis can normally be found surfing Lowers. And Nick Rozsa is usually rocking out Ventura. But occasionally the boys need a change of scenery. Each goes a round out of his element for this episode of Sea Movies presented by Reef. Luke lets loose in some wild Ventura beachbreak. Then Rozsa and his bodyboard buddies enjoy some point surf at a wind protected spot in Malibu. It's still California, and although they're a tweak or so out of their elements, they still pretty much still crush it.
