CONDITIONS:
Sebastian Inlet offered up predictable textured wedges for two days of high-flying hi-jinx by 84 of the East Coast's best surfers. Ramps, walls and closeout sections provided the perfect canvas for high performance surfing. (Though Saturday morning was in the 40s -- not what you'd expect in Florida in November.)

He eyed a right wedge peak and started pumping down the line. He hit the ramp with lots of speed, inverted his board into a full rotation, three feet above the lip, and stuck it clean. Riding out into the flats, it was double birds in the air and some sort of ball-grab, which may not have entirely impressed the judges. Cormican later apologized. This air won the DC Most Progressive Maneuver award. OUSTANDING PERFORMERS: Well, other than Gorkin, Evan Thompson was clearly ripping; Alek Parker nailed the ESM Airshow prize with a giant punt. CT Taylor, family man, won three skins with super crisp surfing. Jeremy Johnston pulled out very few stops to take four Skins. Like every year, the KOP is the barometer for East Coast talent. Everyone that won a Skin was ripping. QUOTES: "Sorry, it was an emotional moment -- I've been trying to win this thing for eight years." -- Gorkin, after his double-bird, ball-grab claim in the finals Aaron Cormican 8 Skins $4600 (Including Treasure Chest + $500 DC Shoes Most Progressive.
