TB continues to get direspected by judges & power rankings. The difference between him and Dane/Jordy: TB pulls everything. The problem is the judges score him against himself: Mick would definitely get a better score for the same air-360 than TB, but TB would get a lower score than Mick for the same sick top-turn b/c judges expect to see him doing airs. Given the same waves (wave selection seems to be a problem for TB), I don't think anyone could beat TB. No one can pull his repertoire of moves

Sorry Douglas, but Greg Long got the best wave at the Eddie(completed). If you take into consideration the wave that Kelly dropped in on and the other guy made him fall on, that was the best wave(uncompleted). To bad that guy tried to drop in on Slater or he would of won it for sure, hands down. But as far as completed waves counted, Greg Long won. It was deserved under the circumstances. The contest was all about love and respect. Eddie was a good man who gave his life for his friends. - Ethan

Cairns. Such a nice bloke. Met him and Alisa a few times out at Brooks Street, however he gives Slater as much a consistant underrating as Borte gives him diety. In the end, I strongly believe Borte is closer to the truth. Look at that event. If there were a Leaderboard, Slater would've finished at 15 under and Taj would have been at 2 under. The guy who got 2nd place won the event by a mile. His whole year was much the same, a wierd year of losses through waveless heats and other anomolies.

Mick's an awesome surfer but it was very sad the winner in one foot surf defeated the winner in big surf. Sure, Joel blew it but Joel was the best in 2010 with doubt. I agree 2010 could be Dane's year and Kelly's #10. Dane is the fourth Cooly Kid. He surfs just like Michael Peterson (MP). Killer.

ian c. may know a thing or two.don´t wan´t to take that away from him and i respect him for what he achieved etc...i agree that marlon lacked some variety this season and his approach isn´t newschool enough for the wct( pretty strange cause i know him for about 10 years and he used to be the comlete package in terms of airs, tailblows and stuff).BUT to say he lacks power is just not true and makes me doupt mr. cairs objektivity). Marlons one of the most powerful surfers in the world. period

Big wave contests seems to be the future for surfing progression. Surfers and non surfers alike find it entertaining and fascinating. Big wave contests although very difficult to get the conditions are by far the best to watch and Kelly seems like he could take it to a new level. I live in San Clemente and totally respect Greg Long but Kelly should have won the Eddie.
