I don't get it Jason. Whats funny about Owen having severe vertigo from a busted eardrum and Bobby taking bad wipeouts?
guga cabradapeste 11/09/2009 07:21 AM
Heitor was burned, didnt get the CORRECT scores from the judges, they made a MISTAKE and should be ALERTED AND PUNISHED by the consequences, unfair...even Whitaker dude didnt belive, FACT!

hey dont pay out bede he is one of my most favourite surfers and defaintly one of the most under rated and defaintly not a boring surfer i know he cant win it this year but it would be great to see him win one and he potentially has the skill to win

Joel Parkinson shines very brightly in Hawaii, and I look forward to seeing him shock the tour with some major surfing statements there, including a win at pipeline. As for Bede, I'm sorry, but he is the most boring surfer on the WTC. I have no idea why the judges throw him points, but Parko smoked him in their heat in Portugal, and should have been in the final. If the judges continue with this over-scoring Bede bullshit, they should be fined, and fired.

You guys talk too much shit about these world class surfers. If the surf industry wants to get recognition and an audience equal to the major ball sports then stopping verbally bitch slapping your top 44. I know you are trying your very hardest to entertain and get readers back but show some common decency or a little respect.

Can we all say Political Scapegoat.. b/c thats what derailed Kelly's #10. It was just a matter of time b4 the Aussies were given their plastic nipples to shut them up after of their whining!

My bad. Borte did rank Slater #1. Sorry Bob Pasty. Slater is still the best surfer in the ASP today. Last year had the same surfers + Andy for most of the year. Slater won 6 out of the ten events he surfed in. Who in the ASP besides him can do that. No one. He's had somne lackluster results, but more than that he's had a lot of bad luck. Chopes and J-Bay he was beaten by the ocean. Mundaka, he was beaten by a horrifically surfed wave but one that still allowed sevral manuevers. Style wasn't used
Helmut 11/08/2009 11:49 AM
No#1? I don't see that. Slater's ranked number 7. They're power rankings. Slater could get 5 17ths in a row and turn around in win the next four events in a row. He is given those ratings becuase of the ability level. At Trestles, before Dane fully got into his head, Slater was ripping that event. These rankings, and I could be wrong, are not based on how you finished in the previous event but on how you've been surfing. Adriano did not outsurf Slater in Mundaka. Owen did outsurf him.

the only reason i read this garbage is because im at work and there's nothing else better to do. but seriously what a joke these rankings are. it was a million times better back when that other guy was doing them - at least he made me laugh. this is surfing not football, and people are taking this shit WAYYY too seriously. these clowns need to get over themselves and realize that all anyone cares about is watchin dane and kelly destroy it

Mick represents #1 very well, imo. Wonder where Andy will fit into this mix next year, if he returns.
owen 11/08/2009 05:22 AM
twice kelly was rubbed.... the heat against adriano and the heat against owen. its a shame

funny, i used to rail against ian's self-absorbed, blowhardy oi-oi-ness, but jeez, now when i read borte's cringe-inducing comments i look to ian for something worth reading. at least he's become straightforward and insightful, whereas borte, while very occasionally delivering a real critical observation, mostly just relies on easy puns, irreverant/sensational claims, or hackneyed references. and lose the picture too, guy. it's not ironic like you think it is.

Borte you are a kook having Slater #1 after each event. And I'm from Florida. No credibilty, I can't even read your dribble anymore.

Yea I thought Kelly could have got the win over Owen. It seemed like a close call and the champ should always get the benefit of the doubt when surfing against wild cards. Oh well he's certainly had the lions share of the glory for the past 15 years so good for Owen he was absolutely ripping until the accident, hope he comes back stronger than ever.
