but isn't that the problem, Frank the Tank? I understand from those in the know that you're right - Lewis is good friends with CJ now. Unfortunately, his writing was better before he was buddies with these guys.

i think putting kelly in last place would be kind of funny... Im sure that would get some serious polarized reactions//

Samuel Lewis is the only pro surfing related stuff worth reading since Hynd's departure, Carroll's intermitent writing and Sarge's ban. Keep it up, SL, but try focusing more on the actual surfing and it can only get better. As for CJ... it's always amusing to witness a christian's will to forgive, comprehend and accept.

Kinda interesting. Hynd was the original and much better in my humble opinion. Oh, Hynd could also walk the walk, so his hits hurt more.

You know, there was a comment in Lewis' interview about how many people in the surf industry really are STUPID. You idiots that are accusing Lewis of slamming CJ, or being an idiot for ranking him 45th are doing absolutely nothing to dispel that "stupidity in surfing" comment. It's called tounge-in-cheek people. Lewis is good friends with CJ. He ranked him 45th as a little inside joke. The fact that only a few of you see that is testament to the fact that many of you are in fact, STUPID.

I think last place should be 46-million+ for all the blowhards who talk the talk but have never stepped on this stage to prove anything. No matter what comments are made, these 45 are better than us on paper. Anyone in the top 50 is not in the bottom million. Talk is cheap. These guys have thrown down the gauntlet and taken the challenge- earning the title of world class professional. The rest of us are just that- the rest. Respect is earned.

Anyone who's been to a half dozen CT events over the last year or two knows Lewis pretty much nails it; although, the man in the arena always deserves more props than the critic.

these are usually pretty good, but with the weak Andy fluff piece and now this, it seems Lewis' run may be coming to an end. Time for the next UCSD surf team guy to step up.

it is interesting to notice the change in the comments about some surfers. You can almost guess who was nice and who wasn't. I think it is good for the sport, to "out" bad behavior. Keep calling it how you see it and we'll keep laughing. It is part of the game to get the stinky eye, but I definitely enjoy it.

Was Kelly Slater really #1 in events 9 and 10? Because this is about events 9 and 10, isn't it? In France, he paddled out for a World title and lost the final, there was at least one better guy than him...
Jay 10/25/2008 04:12 AM
whats the deal with the injury wildcards call..is aritz aramburu not applying for one?..wasnt he injured for the first 6 events...?
Bob 10/25/2008 01:58 AM
The guy writes a humor column about pro-surfing--and pretty well at that--and all of you brain-dead idiots freak out about it like housewives watching AS THE WORLD TURNS. "Put aside your beef with CJ," you whiningly plead. "Stop name dropping," you bitch. Does tongue-in-cheek mean anything to any of the community college dropouts that have posted here? I thought not.
Angry Scot 10/25/2008 01:02 AM
Lighten up guys, if you want detailed info on surfer stats go to the ASP website and see where they really stand and if you want a surf story there are plenty other articals on surfline for you. This is just a bit of fun with a different view from the norm, I for one think its pretty funny.
Merlin 10/24/2008 09:28 PM
I like it, its genius. Keeps getting better, how can you not like this??! Stop taking this stuff so seriously...
Kyle 10/24/2008 08:20 PM
Keep it coming Lewis! good work.
