CONDITIONS:
Morning fog and inconsistent surf made sit and wait the name of the game this weekend. But while it was hard to gain any real sense of rhythm early on, the most patient, hungry groms found enough hackable, wackable walls for a fun day at Pleasure Point.

And the field was stacked in 16/Under Girls, but Asia Carpenter delivered a break out performance, claiming the crown for top Gromsearch female of the day. HIGHLIGHTS: The regional storyline: North vs. South. Socal drew first blood on the dagger of Colin Moran, who made both the Boys 12 and 14 and Under finals, winning the first, placing third in the latter - a 14 and Under division dominated, of course, by Newps' Josh Giddings. But just when it looked like Norcal might get shut out on home turf, Young, fine-tuned and streaking, bashed the hell out of one of the better set waves for 8 points and sweet victory on the big stage. Next stop: New Smyrna Beach, Florida. QUOTE: "I knew what it was going to take and I wanted it. With GromSearch there is a lot on the line, which makes me that much more fired up on the win." - Nat Young, all smiles during the award ceremony NOTE: Be sure to check out the surfline.com/gromsearch minisite for more info about the Gromsearch.
