Quiksilver and Mark Richards Raise Funds for Sids Kids Families

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is one of the leading causes of death for babies 1-12 months old andfour time world champion, Mark Richards and his wife, Jennifer, lost their son Beau at the age of 8 weeks in 1989 due to SIDS.

Having had to endure the pain of losing, they decided to be patrons and fund raisers for SIDS Hunter Region Organization ever since. SIDS Hunter Region Organization provides counseling and support for families who have experienced the death of a child from any cause including stillbirth and neonatal death. They also provide education services for health professionals. They do not receive any government funding and rely solely on public donations and fundraising such as Red Nose Day. Quiksilver has also been keen to support this positive fund raising by donating specially made white boardshorts to act as a 'canvas' for surfers and musicians to paint on, including Quiksilver's Kelly Slater, Martin Potter and Mark Richards himself, as well as musicians like Jack Johnson and Eddie Vedder.

The painted boardshorts are auctioned on e-bay to raise fund for the SIDS Hunter Region activities.
