PRESS RELEASE
Midget Smith Surfboards, a Southern California staple for quality, hand crafted surfboards, has launched its newly revamped website, www.midgetsmithsurf.com. In addition to photos and news, www.midgetsmithsurf.com is headquarters for ordering new Midget Smith Surfboards shaped by Tim Marshall. Jeffrey "Midget" Smith passed away 2008, surrounded by loved ones in the town he had lived his entire life. And while the icon is no longer with us, the sounds of his planers still hum throughout the walls of the factory, and foam dust still collects along the floors of his decorated shaping bay. The templates and shapes that have been ridden and heralded by such legends as Mark Occhilupo, Martin Potter, Dane Kealoha, Andy Irons, Chris Drummy, Pat Drummy, Mikala Jones, amongst others are still being produced, refined and cared for by Tim Marshall, a man who shaped with Midget for years and whom the family has entrusted to carry on the label. "It's an honor and a privilege to continue the work of such a legendary man," Marshall said. "Midget was more than just a shaper - he was an excellent surfer, judge and all-around incredible friend. His surfboards were some of the best in the business and 30 years of blood, sweat and tears went into creating these magic templates and we have some exciting stuff coming out of the factory right now." |
