Katin Pro/Am Team Challenge Presented by Primo Secures Presenting Sponsor and Launches Website

Katin is pleased to welcome Primo Island Lager as the presenting sponsor of the legendary Katin Pro/Am Team Challenge and announce the event website is now live at katinusa.com . The camaraderie-driven event, set to return to the north side of the Huntington Beach Pier for two days between Jan. 12-17, brings top industry brands and surfers together to compete as teams and individuals for more than $28,500 in cash and prizes.

Last year, Team Hurley took top honors with Brett Simpson earning the individual championship and Rob Machado coming in runner up. Reef, Darkride and Fox finished in second, third and fourth, respectively, and will be looking to better that this year. Other top individual performers last year included Chris Waring (Reef), who finished in third, and Jesse Evans (Darkride), who finished in fourth.

As a unique low-pressure event, the world's top surfers have historically flocked to compete alongside their brethren. Past winners have included World Champions Shaun Tomson, Tom Curren, Martin Potter, Sunny Garcia and Kelly Slater.

The events return last year, after a 10-year hiatus, proved hugely successful and memorable with some of the top names in surfing in the line up including 2009 US Open Champion Brett Simpson, Rob Machado, Kolohe Andino, Shaun Ward, Mike Losness and Chris Waring.

Both days of competition will be webcast live with expert commentary and on-air giveaways from Peter "PT" Townend and the voice of professional surfing Dave Stanfield.
