BILLABONG PRO MUNDAKA: DAY SEVEN
Nothing promising at Sopelana; competition on hold for sixth straight day
It's a beautiful drive from Mundaka to Sopelana. But the ASP Top 45 would rather be surfing instead of driving through the Basque Country.
For the sixth consecutive day, the Billabong Pro Mundaka is on hold. After sussing conditions at the backup venue of Sopelana, Contest Director Mike Parsons decided to wait another day.
"We gave it a good look today at both Mundaka and Sopelana and conditions were not suitable to run competition," Parsons said. "By looking at what's on tap for the rest of the waiting period, the next two days look like they'll be our best shot in the near future so we'll be making the call from the backup site tomorrow morning at 7:30am."
Let's hope so, as the Top 45 are practically on holiday. Plus, the Top 16 aren't even thinking about competing since they still need to finish Round One of the new format.
