To HaHaHa: I just watched a couple of his heats. Like I said, he has all the tricks, but not too much grace. Are you an O'Neill employee?

Wish i had his job of writing this, I would ne probably banned in a few countries, lmao Kelly verse Suuny " Mr. Slater....how would you like your eggs?.......Kelly says "sunny side up" Taj flew in on a persian carpet and Kelly made it into a lamp shade Florida rules, plain and simple

Someone needs to remove Somers' premium membership, Jordy - Ugly? Godzilla? Go watch him surf, get in the water with the guy, the only problem with Jordy's surfing is that he make those maneuvers look easy and in complete control and gets underscored for it. If he can get his strategy together I think he's one of the only guys who could go blow for blow with Slater.

O.K., I've only read through the top 8 so far, but it's now official; All Hail the Master, Mr. Samuels, the new and improved Derek Hynd, which is no small compliment. This guy is as entertaining as sitting on top of K38 in the 70's in the after glow of another Saturday "I gotta work during the week" super fun session, sipping on Coronas and watching the local beginners hilariously butcher their waves. Long live the King!

Lewis is a trip. Good writing. People lighten up,he tells it like it is with a touch of humor. Plus, he's had good things to say about my man BENNY B. all year long! Come on Ben,get past that third round and stay on tour.

First things First: Lewis, you're surfing's first great sportswriter. Please don't stop even though you're probably going to get me fired. Second: Kelly Slater, you seem like a class act and a nice guy, but those tight little tail tweaky thingies you do at the end of your turns suck. They're ugly as hell and they ruin everything. Please stop doing them now.

Yo. That comment about being tired of Jordy's humility is just ridiculous. Hello? I suppose we should all gloat about our achievements like the Yanks huh? It might surprise you to realize that not everyone in the world thinks cockiness is aspirational. Do you actually travel?

Hi,good job Lewis, I'm a wct observer(for myself as a fan). TB somehow lost his heat vs Jeremy, but didn't win it against KS is there's any lingering doubt about that, I say then that Kelly spread water around in the 9.7 and the last 9.27 even it was not as steep as the first wave( history goes back to the similar section in 2005's final), but then complaints about such stuff has to be even loud so as to go further in precise judging...([email protected])..THANS FOR READING.soon after france..

Did anyone actually watch Jordy surf before making him the multi?-million dollar man? He has the tricks, but, to copy Samuels, he has the grace of Godzilla. Admit it everyone, he surfs ugly & should lose points for it.

Adriano is now in the 6th place! You are wrong again!

Talk about giveaways - the judges GAVE AWAY the title to Mick last year when they gave the Slater/Bede heat to Bede. Mick is not even if the same all around league as Slater or others in the top 44 especially when you count creativity or throw em in heavy waves: (Andy, Damo, CJ, Slater, Bruce, Ward, Bobby, etc)

I think lewis can surf - but regardless - his stuff is hilarious. I can respect the close final and different opinions. Sometimes I think that going back to a three wave format could separate the best surfer from the guy who caught the two best set waves... With two waves the judges really need to reward BIG moves over wave selection... which they for the most part are except for a few Frevorites who are just plain ugly. Not sure why the judges are believers. Lewis isn't and I repect that

Fast jerkety repetitive turns aside, Taj's first wave was the high score. A few swooping arm flails aside, Slater was the better surfer. In my book the better surfer should win. Better lines, better deeper longer bottom turns, trickier waves to work with. Could Slater do those Taj hacks? Yes. Could Taj do the wraps or draw the lines Kelly was doing? No. If you switched waves would it have been as close? No. OK Slater in 1st but Taj prob won if you weigh heavy on wave selection...
