APSPR Corona Extra Pro Anticipates Solid Swell for Contest

MIDDLES, Isabela, Puerto Rico (Wednesday, November 6, 2013) - The 24th edition of the Corona Extra Pro Circuit at Middles Beach in Isabela, Puerto Rico anticipates a dominant NNE swell to deliver 5-8 ft swell. The swell looks to be best Saturday morning with light winds and will continue to offer up highly contestable waves throughout the duration of the event.
An international field of over 60 competitors looks to begin their 2014 APSPR season campaign at Middles Beach. Brian Toth of Isabela, PR looks to start the season strong as the number one seed and defending APSPR Champion. The event will also see world-class surfing from past event stand-outs such as Magnum Martinez (Venezuela), Josie Graves (Isabela, PR), and Asher Nolan (Florida). Other big names include Cody Thompson (Florida) ASP 4-star Rip Curl Puerto Rico Champion.
The women's side of competition will also see a highly talented group of surfers including defending APSPR Champion Alexis Engstrom who splits her time between New York and Rincon. Competition looks to be fierce with names on the draw such as a consistent performer and APSPR runner-up Maria Kuzmovich (Florida/Puerto Rico). Other event stand-outs and accomplished surfers that promise to put on a performance are Amy Nicholl (Florida), Amy Murphree (Rincon), Liza Caban (Aguadilla, PR), Nikki Viesins (Florida), and Women's ASP North America Pro Junior Series Champion Chelsea Tuach (Barbados).The contest will have a total purse of $37,000, divided into $25,000 for the Men and $12,000 for the Women. The winner of the Men's will take home $10,000. The Women's champion will receive $5,000. As well as valuable points in the three contest series to be crowned 2014 APSPR Champion.
