Eco-Apprentice Permaculture Design Course, starting mid-May

The Ecology Center (www.TheEcologyCenter.org), located in San Juan Capistrano, welcomes you to join us for this 6-month permaculture design course in south Orange County exploring food, water, waste, energy, and shelter, and become an eco-advocate in our local watershed and community!
This 72- hour weekender program (12 sessions across 6 months) kicks off Saturday, May 11th, with class days running from 9am-3pm, and going through November
Topics covered in-depth include:
ECO-DESIGN: permaculture principles; ecology + natural history; local and global design strategies
FOOD: sustainable food systems; growing your own; soil remediation; plant propogation; backyard agroforestry; seed saving
WATER: water in the landscape; rainwater catchment; greywater reuse; aquaculture; household efficiency
WASTE: nutrient cycles in nature; regenerative design; composting basics; backyard chickens; mushroom cultivation
ENERGY: household auditing; alternative + appropriate technology; solar applications; bicycle power
SHELTER: bioregional organization; food preservation; toxin elimination; co-ops + skillshares
Classes meet May 11/25, June 8/22, July 13/27, August 10/24, (no class in September), October 12/26, November 9/23
Tuition: $895/$850 members of The Ecology Center
Includes private design studio hours, curriculum and supporting materials, practicum, and certification. Scholarships and work/study opportunities are available.
