Event # 1 on the "Corona Extra Pro Surf Circuit" competition season.
For Immediate Release:
International Surf Stars return to Puerto Rico for Corona Extra Pro!
When pro surfing action returns to the shores of Puerto Rico on the weekend of October 12 and 13 at Middles Beach near Isabela several of the top pro surfers from around the world will be competing. This will be the 24th edition of the Corona Extra Pro Surf Circuit and commitments have already been received from many surfers who travel there each year in hopes of catching the big swells.
Asher Nolan, from Jacksonville, Florida is a previous Corona Extra champion. "I'm really looking forward to the event", said Nolan. "Middles is one of my favorite waves in PR. The place has power, and when it's big it can be very heavy! These events are always very difficult, with the Puerto Ricans all wanting to win at their home break: and then you have some of the best Americans coming down as well to compete for the prize purse. It's really great of Corona to put on these events for the surfers. There is always a great atmosphere with the huge turnout of the beach crowd. People really enjoy themselves In
Puerto Rico".
Another international pro who will be competing is Magnum Martinez, of Venezuela. Martinez has been the number one pro surfer from Venezuela for more than ten years, and won the I.S.A. (International Surfing Association) Masters Division Championship last July, in Nicaragua. "To me, it is a great opportunity and pleasure to be able to compete in the Corona Extra Contest in Puerto Rico, and especially at Middles, one of my favorite waves on the island!", said Martinez. "It's been 20 years since my first trip to the Isla Del Encanto, and I'm looking forward to it like if it was the very first time"!
The surfers invariably list Middles as one of their favorite waves in Puerto R
