Since last year's Roxy Pro Gold Coast ended up at an alternate site due to Snapper Rock's messed up sandbar, this year the Top 17 girls are probably eager for some classic Snapper reeling rights. But it looks like the Super Bank is back and they'll be getting what they want.

Most Americans know about Bells from the 1990's Keanu Reeves movie, Pointbreak. But scrap all those predetermined notions created by Hollywood. While this classic righthand pointbreak can range from epic to just so-so, it's not known for being a big wave break. It's this place's history of competition that makes Bells so legendary.

After a four-month break from ASP World Tour events, the girls are heading to Brazil where any number of unpredictable things can go down. Even though it's already August, there's still plenty of time for the sandbars of Itacare mix up the ratings a bit.

For nearly 15 years, Rip Curl has held this event in Southern France, but they've stirred it up a bit this year by moving the competition to Spain. Although the ASP World Tour is new to this locale, the conditions at this sandy-reef break are rumored to get pretty epic at times.

In case you had any doubts, Steph Gilmore just reiterated a reality: She's got the makings of a true champ. Already in first place on the ASP Women's World Tour ratings, Steph was a marked woman going into the event and, while wearing that big, red bull's eye, sailed through her first and third round heats. She took down her buddy, Jessi Miley-Dyer in the quarters and then didn't even come close to caving to an on-fire Sofia Mulanovich -- the girl who literally had an entire country on the beach rooting for her all week.

Although the ASP Women's World Tour never makes it to mainland American turf, this Sunset event is the first of two incredible Hawaiian stops. It is also a tour tradition, probably because the notoriously heavy surf of Sunset is the perfect proving ground for young pros to decide if they've got what it takes to be a World Champ.

Even in their wildest dreams, the Top 17 girls couldn't imagine more perfect conditions for this event than what they were granted with in 2006, which causes for high expectations towards this year's event. But Honolua is considered one of the best righthand pointbreaks in the world and the conditions should satisfy, regardless.
