I was in LA for the Billabong XXL Awards, and when the event was over, I was itching to go on a surf trip. Last year in May I had bought a ticket to go to Puerto Escondido but ended up having to cancel that trip because it was during the peak of the Swine Flu scare. I was really determined to make up for it this year.
I saw a fun looking swell pop on the forecast and emailed Jeff Flindt to see if he was interested (he was), so I immediately booked a flight. I was excited to be going back to Puerto with Flindt; he was with me on my first trip to Puerto many years ago and he gave me my Mexican nickname "Chi Chi Rodriguez."
