Many of us haven't heard of Dane Hall, a 25-year-old British pro surfer who smartly relocated to Peniche, where waves like this can magically happen in the middle of May. And while the tube itself is quite remarkable, it's the line Hall chooses that makes this a special clip. There's so much water sucking up off the sand that the best possible place to be is not tucking in high and tight and driving, but standing still towards the very bottom of the wave as it growls across the sandbar.

For the past three years Nic Von Rupp has been fighting for a wild card spot in the Moche Rip Curl Pro. After clinching the trials with a 9.5, Nic has finally found himself with an opportunity to take it to the worlds best.


October 13th saw some very fine conditions at a particular spot somewhere in Peniche. To no surprise, the world's best were on hand to tear it apart during a downday. Kelly Slater, Taj Burrow, Kolohe Andino, Josh Kerr, Jordy Smith, and Mick Fanning have themselves a little super session in some super fun-looking waves. Kerr called it "one of the best freesurfs of the year."
