Current world junior champion Jordy Smith (Sth Africa) continued his impressive run at the SriLankan Airlines Pro in the Maldives today. The powerful South African won his way through to the quarter finals with a solid display of vertical surfing. In the one sided affair, Smith defeated Hawaiian Kekoa Becalso with a score of 15.16 points to 6.67.

The days highlight heat centered on tactics and aggression in an intriguing battle between experienced ASP campaigner Nathan Hedge and three emerging surfers, all hungry for the heat win. Hedge had a poor start and was languishing in last place throughout his round three heat and was staring at an early elimination.
