Don't say Mundaka is your "dream wave" unless it really is. T'would be an insult to all those authentic Mundaka lovers, all those mad Basque tubesmiths, who wait through thick and thin -- cold and warm, extinct and reincarnated, good sand flow and bad sand flow -- for years on end to realize their dream. Sure, it's a perfect wave. It's a perfect beating, too. Yes, it's only sand. But it gets shallow as hell and rivermouth sediment can feel just like concrete when a swell's in town. And okay, the wave offers an incredible barrel. But there're a lot of Euro guys thinking the same thing. And they don't exactly suck at surfing. So dream on... or move on. |
