Contests

The 2013 Rip Curl GromSearch hit New Smyrna Beach, and the Groms hit it hard. These little buggers threw all they had at New Smyrna, mostly they just threw tail.

The Red Bull Call Em Out is a unique surf contest fielded by 16 elite North Florida surfers. Each competitor had the opportunity to call out their opponent or be called out based on the chip they drew. Old rivalries were renewed and new ones were formed. After all the other surfers had been eliminated, the final pairing pitted undefeated seasoned pro, Asher Nolan against former WCT surfer, Gabe Kling. Nolan defeated Kling, who'd already lost once to become the 2012 Call Em Out champ.

It's only natural to be a little bit jealous of New Smyrna Beach, FL, prodigy Eric Geiselman. Dude absolutely shreds at everything he's ever picked up. He could've probably been a professional guitarist, or skateboarder, or model, or gigolo. But instead, he chose professional surfing. Or professional surfing chose him. Either way, he's probably the most well-rounded and savagely raw surfer on the East Coast today. And if not for his extremely gregarious charm and self-lampooning shtick, he'd be an easy guy to hate. But instead, you embrace him. Then, when he goes Dahmer at NSB Inlet, you can say, "Yep, that's my friend Eric. Killing it."
