Olympic gold medal wrestler, former Surf Industry Manufacturer's Association (SIMA) executive director and San Onofre local Terry J. McCann, 72, passed away on Tuesday June 7th, 2006 of lung cancer.
McCann started surfing in the mid-'80s and was the former head of the Monarch Bay Outrigger Canoe Club. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lucille; seven children; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother and two sisters. Over 300 friends and family attended a mass in Dana Point on June 9th; a memorial paddle out will be announced shortly.
