Hey, this is Sherwood with the report for Saturday afternoon at 12:15PM.
1-2 ft - knee to thigh highand poor+ conditions.
PM REGIONAL OVERVIEW: Right now we're seeing waist-chest-shoulder high waves at the exposed spots. Most Northern LA breaks see bumpy, textured conditions thanks to NW flow. Things tend to clean up a bit through the South Bay. A 1.5' low tide makes it through around 2PM.
This Morning's Dawn Patrol: Plus sets. Semi-clean and small with some inconsistent crumbly corners.
Light winds early turn NW 15kts most of the day.
This morning there's a mix of mainly NW windswell and some new SE tropical swell starting to show at select spots. Surf is mostly in the knee-waist-shoulder high zone. Light winds early for semi-clean to textured conditionsthen steady onshores for the rest of the day. The tide hits a 5' high around 8:00am.
SATURDAY:NW windswell fades, SE tropical swell shows at select spots in the far north half of the county (although most breaks in and around the Malibu region are blocked from the SE swell). Surf for the northern areas is waist-chest-shoulder high, while south spots average under waist high.
Wind: Gusty offshore NE winds in the morning turn W 10-14kts during the afternoon.

Until now there were just a few legal options to get to the waves at Point Mugu: Befriend someone in the military who doesn't mind escorting you to the beach when the waves are good, boating in, or enlisting in the Navy.But the base has generated some buzz in the surfing world recently by sponsoring a contest this month that is being billed as the first ever at Point Mugu, a spot some once called "SoCal's best kept secret."Link to The Ventura County Star for more.

"The Jimmy" 4TH Annual Jimmy Miller Memorial Foundation Surf Fiesta and Party.The 4th Annual Jimmy Miller Memorial Foundation Surf Fiesta is set for Sunday, October 19th at Rosecrans Avenue in Manhattan Beach.The "Jimmy" is a one of kind team surf competition which brings together surfers of all levels, friends, and family to remember and celebrate the life of Jimmy Miller in a unique team format that fosters teamwork, encouragement and friendly competition. Five person teams will consist of one surfer from each skill level from ripper to beginner. All surfers will ride a variety of Jim's and other friends' surfboards. This will be a great event so please come on down and check it out.
On Saturday, November 1st, the Ocean Institute in Dana Point, will be hosting the first annual Surfscience Teen Conference.The Conference starts at 10:00am and goes until 4:00pm and is open to 8th-12th grade students. Teens will have the chance to meet Quiksilver pro surfer Lisa Andersen, participate in a mini-workshop on surf forecasting with Surfline scientist Kevin Wallis, and take a bus trip down to the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla.For more information check out the Ocean Institute¹swebsite or call (949) 496-2274.
