More Information | Rate Accuracy of This Model
Surfline's LOLA Swell Model is the ONLY global swell model that can separate individual swells to accurately calculate surf heights for any location on Earth. Every surf spot will only have a limited range of swells that produce good surf at that location. Compare the LOLA swell forecast with a spot's "Optimal Conditions" information and your own local knowledge to score the best surf.
The "Swell Rose" above is the only one of it's kind in the world. This shows the directions of all the incoming swells
(N=0° East=90° etc). If you mouse over the swell rose you can see detailed raw numbers of the underlying swells.
US Weather data comes from the WeatherUnderground array of personal weather stations. Data is near realtime. International weather comes from LOLAs high resolution models or WUG where possible.
Tides are generated using the most excellent Xtide system.

“Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly — K – E – L – L – Y. “ It’s not just a funny song from the 80’s sitcom “Cheers”, it’s what you can expect from the surf media between now and next ‘CT season (Us included.) Click here to read the first installment of Slater’s take on 2008. Click here for a piece on his Santa Monica “For the Love” book-signing. And Click here for EXPN’s interview by Jon Coen. Cane coverage on the streets! That’s right, the latest round of mags are loaded with tropical bits front to back, much of it thanks to Jesse Hines who scored the cover of both Surfer and ESM . Of course, the latter is stocked with Mid-Atlantic action, including Kyle kicking ass along the Outer Banks, coverage of the ESA Easterns and WRV Battle of the Banks, and a “Who Da Guy” on Chris McDonald. And the new Surfing’s got CJ Hobgood on the cover, plus insights from Joey Crum and shaper Jesse Fernandez and sick shots of Lucas Rogers and Ben Bourgeois. And if that’s not enough homegrown action, join Billabong and Digital Wunderland for the "Beyond The Barrier" East Coast movie tour: Nov. 28, Chicho’s, VB; Nov. 29. The Pit, Nags Head; Dec. 3, Kefi’s Wilmington, NC; Dec. 4, O’Malley’s, Charleston, SC. Shows start at 9pm. Check a clip here. ESA SSC has their 2008 season points live – not including the Open, Boys Shortboard and Menehune Longboard heats to run after the Liquid Shredder Team Challenge this weekend, Nov. 29-30. Word on SurfKDH.com is there’s a surfboard swap meet taking place on Nov. 28 from 1-5pm at Mile Post 10 on the Beach Road. And be sure to check the site for a shot of Brett Barley charging Pipe. On Dec. 3, SSC Surfrider will meet at the Daily Dose on James Island. Starts at 6:30pm. Get your entries in by Dec. 4 for Maryland ESA’s HO-HO Surf Contest scheduled for Dec. 6-7. The contest will be at North Side or Tower Road in DE. Meanwhile, in WB, Tony Butler is gearing up for the 4th Annual Hope From Helen Surf Silent Auction at the Blockade Runner Beach Resort in Wrightsville Beach. The date will be Friday December 5th and food will be courtesy of Tower 7 and live music by local surf legends Jerry Powell and Greg Eavey. They’re currently seeking both auction items and donations. Contact Tony for details and spread the word. Also on Dec. 5, Outer Banks ESA will hold their End of the Year Banquet while ESA CNC gets festive on Dec. 7. Check the sites for details. Props to NC’s Dylan Kowalski for being the currentNSSA Surfer of the Week. Dylan surfed through ten rounds of challenging surf to claim a first in Open Juniors, second in Explorer Juniors and third in Open Mens in the Mid Atlantic Conference event #4 held in Nags Head. If you surf Nicaragua, support Nicaragua. Dawn Gray is an artist/teacher who works with kids near Popoyo. She’s back in the States for a few months raising funds and awareness. Click here to see how you can help. And look for her work on an upcoming episode of Fuel TV’s “On Surfari.” The national election’s done, but another political fight is only beginning. With Congress lifting the ban on offshore drilling , now’s the time to contact your Senators and State Reps and tell them it’s time to explore for fresh energy solutions – not petroleum. And, finally, what’s the best part of a surf trip? That giant excess baggage fee the airlines pork you with on both sides, right? Wrong! Well, stop bitching and do something by signing this petition.
