LOCAL NEWS:
“Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly — K – E – L – L – Y. “ It’s not just a funny song from the 80’s sitcom “Cheers”, it’s what you can expect from the surf media between now and next ‘CT season (Us included.) Click here to read the first installment of Slater’s take on 2008. Click here for a piece on his Santa Monica “For the Love” book-signing. And Click here for EXPN’s interview by Jon Coen.

NESurf.com is sporting a fresh new look and back end to make things easier. Check it out and let them know what you think.
If you surf Nicaragua, support Nicaragua. Dawn Gray is an artist/teacher who works with kids near Popoyo. She’s back in the States for a few months raising funds and awareness. Click here to see how you can help. And look for her work on an upcoming episode of Fuel TV’s “On Surfari.”
And there’s all sorts of ‘cane coverage on the streets! That’s right, the latest round of mags are loaded with tropical bits front to back, much of it thanks to Jesse Hines who scored the cover of both Surfer and ESM . Of course, the latter is stocked with New England action, thanks to photogs Nick LaVecchia, Brian Nevins and Luke Simpson – not to mention surfers like Justin Casey. Plus you get coverage of the ESA Easterns. And the new Surfing put CJ Hobgood on the cover of its annual surfboard issue, which also maps out the global adventure of Ben McBrien’s Grain board.
Speaking of which, Grain Surfboards is continuing their weeklong workshops with the first dates set for Jan. 25-31. Cost is $1,575 and you walk away with a new board, ready to glass. Check the site for future dates and to reserve your spot.
The national election’s done, but another political fight is only beginning. With Congress lifting the ban on offshore drilling , now’s the time to contact your Senators and State Reps and tell them it’s time to explore for fresh energy solutions – not petroleum.
And, finally, what’s the best part of a surf trip? That giant excess baggage fee the airlines pork you with on both sides, right? Wrong! Well, stop bitching and do something by signing this petition.
