Hey, this is Kevin with the report for Wednesday morning at 6:10.
2-3 ft - knee to waist high with occasional 4 ft. and fair conditions.
This Morning's Dawn Patrol: Clean, low tide lines with the occasional end section/corner to work with. Sets look to be around chest high on occasion.
Overcast skies with light/calm wind. Afternoon SW to W wind builds 8-12kts+.
We've got a mixed bag of swell this morning: SSE hurricane swell (165) is easing now, modest NW windswell is holding and the first signs of new SSW swell (195-210) are slowly starting to build. The better southerly exposed areas are seeing surf around waist high, while select standouts are picking up chest-shoulder high sets. Surface conditions are clean with calm wind. The tide hits a .7 low around 7AM, so look for many spots to improve with the tide push.
WEDNESDAY: Fading mix of old S and SSE swells, joined by new SW groundswell, touch of NW windswell. Biggest in the morning with waist-chest-shoulder high sets at well exposed spots.
Watch out for the 0.7 Low tide around 7:00AM, which will keep conditions on the drained side for the dawn patrol. Expect generally improving conditions with the tide push.
Wind: Light/variable early, with WNW wind building up to 8-12kts for the afternoon.

UPDATE: We were informed this weekend that UC Irvine's Bren Center will NOT play host to the Commerce Department's public hearing on the 241 Toll Road on July 25th. No new dates have been set. In the meantime, make sure that the Commerce Department knows that you still want the opportunity to be heard. Send an email to Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez demanding that they reschedule the hearing so that he can hear from the community on this issue. Then check out a Save Trestles petition here.
This 30th Anniversary Screening of Big Wednesday was a fundraiser for Moore's UCSD Cancer Center. This is one of several events associated with the annual Longboard Luau which occurs at Scripps. A special thanks to all those that made the thing happen, including the sponsors, volunteers and the Longboard Luau Committee. Link to http://sandiegosurfpics.smugmug.com for photos from the event.

A report published last month by one of the state's leading clean-water watchdog organizations shows that nearly all of San Diego County's beaches are pollution-free when the sun is shining, but not in wet weather. The Beach Report Card issued by Heal the Bay, a Santa Monica-based environmental group, identifies more than a dozen local beaches that in the past year were unfit for human contact whenever it rained. Straight up, ‘F’ grades. Yuck!
What’s in your water? Check out San Diego County’s podcast and stay up-to-date with all the plume, junk, and gunk.
What’s your surf spot worth? Help us find out. Researchers at UCLA are conducting a survey of surfers who surf at California surf spots to evaluate their worth. You can help by visiting this link and filling out the survey: http://www.beachology.com/surf. Your participation can help us better protect and manage California surf spots in the future.
Now get back to work. ;)
