Hey, this is Sherwood with the report for Saturday afternoon at 12PM.
2-3 ft.+ - knee to chest highand poor+ conditions.
PM REGIONAL OVERVIEW: Still pretty ugly out there this afternoon. Expect plenty of waist-chest-shoulder high waves, but conditions are just hacked at this point. WNW flow is on it pretty hard, and the tide drops to a 1.5' low around 2PM.
This Morning's Dawn Patrol: Sectiony, broken up lines with a tex., bump all over it.
Clear skies with a NASTY WNW wind blowing.
A strong WNW, mainly wind with some ground swell mixes in is rolling over any other kind of swell out there. Plenty of size in the Chest to Shoulder high zone with LARGER sets at the most open areas to this swell combo BUT it's pretty sloppy from steady WNW winds.
SUNDAY: NW windswell fades as SE tropical swell mainly passes by. Surf is mostly knee-waist-chest+ while top breaks hit shoulder high plus.
Wind:Offshore NE in the morning, NW 10-15kts+ in the afternoon.

Shark Alert: On September 28th, Thadeau Martins was jogging in South Imperial Beach near the Tijuana Slough in San Diego County when he came upon two pinniped carcasses, about 25 yards apart.One had an obvious shark bite. Please exercise caution when surfing in the area and report any shark sighting, encounter, or attack to the Shark Research Committee.
Surfer/shaper Tom Wegener focused his craft around building hollow, wooden boards, and more recently poured tons of R & D into riding and building ancient Hawaiian surfcraft known as alaias. Join Tom Saturday, October 11th, at 7:30 pm, at Patagonia Surf Shop in Cardiff for a slide show and video about wood boards and the speed and thrill of riding a flat piece of wood without any fins.

On Saturday, November 1st, the Ocean Institute in Dana Point will be hosting the first annual Surfscience Teen Conference.The Conference starts at 10:00am and goes until 4:00pm and is open to 8th-12th grade students.
