More Information | Rate Accuracy of This Model
Surfline's LOLA Swell Model is the ONLY global swell model that can separate individual swells to accurately calculate surf heights for any location on Earth. Every surf spot will only have a limited range of swells that produce good surf at that location. Compare the LOLA swell forecast with a spot's "Optimal Conditions" information and your own local knowledge to score the best surf.
The "Swell Rose" above is the only one of it's kind in the world. This shows the directions of all the incoming swells
(N=0° East=90° etc). If you mouse over the swell rose you can see detailed raw numbers of the underlying swells.
US Weather data comes from the WeatherUnderground array of personal weather stations. Data is near realtime. International weather comes from LOLAs high resolution models or WUG where possible.
Tides are generated using the most excellent Xtide system.

Ralph Collier will host an upcoming, free, one-hour Teleconference, "Sharks: Encounters, Myths and Mysteries" with special guest Tom Larkin on Tuesday, August 19th at 6:30 PM(Pacific). While he was surfing off Huntington Beach on Friday, March 7, 2008, Tom and his surfboard got up close and personal with a 15’ Great White Shark (See Pacific Coast Shark News 2008). To participate in this call, here's all you need to do: Right now, send an email to: Ralph@SharkResearchWorldwide.org and put the word “Conference” in the subject line of your email. That’s it. There is no need to write a message. He will send you all the details.
Surfline recently launched a new community section where organizations like surf teams, surf shops, brands, and clubs can easily build and manage a community page on Surfline to better communicate with their audiences, promote their events, and generally get more exposure on Surfline. There’s a back-end admin system that is really easy to use so you can upload photos and videos, create event schedules, have a latest news section, set up a blog, upload an ad banner at the top to brand the page, and change the background colors. A community page is also an easy way for people to interact by uploading their own photos/videos, posting blog questions, etc. For more info or if you are interested in setting up a community page on Surfline for your organization, please send an email to Baylee@surfline.com.
