Thanksgiving’s over. Hurricane season’s done. But the winter surfing holiday’s just begun. Keep your eyes on Surfline for coverage from the past week and forecasts for more systems to come. And if that’s not enough of a feast, dig into the Vans Triple Crown and our Hawaii coverage where CJ Hobgood, Sterling Spencer and Ben Bourgeois are already getting into the spirit by handing out turkeys in Honolulu. Speaking of giving, throw Mother Ocean some free time on Dec. 3, when the Mass. Surfrider Chapter meets at the Wainwright Bank - Community Room;?250 Elm Street;?Somerville, MA. Starts at 6:30pm. NESurf.com is chock full of events to keep you busy this week. On Dec.6, Clean Ocean Action is having a Coastal Clean up at Hull Cove, Jamestown, RI from 12PM to 2PM. Also on Dec.. 6, Everlution is holding a Holiday Hoedown from noon to 5pm, packing their studio to the gills with fresh new work, as well as work from other local artists/makers. And the Nor’easter Christmas Party is also set for Dec. 6, with food, beverages and giveways all day long. And Dec. 7, it’s Connecticut Surfrider’s turn to meet; be at BAR in New Haven at 6pm. The national election’s finished, but another political fight is just starting. With Congress lifting the ban on offshore drilling , now’s the time to contact your Senators and State Reps and tell them it’s time to explore for fresh energy solutions – not petroleum. And, finally, what’s the best part of a surf trip? That giant excess baggage fee the airlines pork you with on both sides, right? Wrong! Well, stop bitching and do something by signing this petition.
